The Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) has introduced a CHeCS Cattle Health Scheme for the four most common and economically important infectious diseases of cattle in the UK and Ireland;
Membership of the scheme enables farmers to improve herd health and farm profitability through a disease management and testing programme to identify, control and eliminate disease from the herd. Herd owners may test for any or all diseases at the same time. The Scheme can provide a recognised Certification of Herd Health, enabling farmers to buy and sell animals of known status, and increasing the sale value of breeding animals.
